    Visit Sarasota County signs local Olympian Emma Weyant in 1st of its kind partnership

    SARASOTA COUNTY (WFLA) – With the start of the 2024 Paris Olympics less than 10 days out, fans are getting excited to root on their favorite athletes.

    There are several Florida athletes heading to Europe for the games , including some from the Tampa Bay area.

    Emma Weyant is one of Sarasota’s star athletes heading to the Games. She won a silver medal in the 400-meter individual medley during the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

    Visit Sarasota County is tapping into the excitement surrounding the 2024 Olympic Games, announcing a historic deal Wednesday. The organization announced the signing of its first-ever name, image, and likeness deal with USA Olympic swim team member Emma Weyant.

    Weyant is a Sarasota native and a former member of the Sarasota Sharks swim team. She currently attends the University of Florida.

    “We are thrilled to partner with Emma, a true hometown hero, as she represents the U.S. and Sarasota on the world stage this summer,” said Erin Duggan, president and CEO of Visit Sarasota County. “Her achievements and connection to our community make Emma the perfect ambassador for Sarasota. This collaboration will promote our beautiful county and showcase our destination as a training ground for champions.”

    As part of the NIL deal, you will see Weyant in marketing aimed at bringing more visitors to the area, which will highlight the areas weather, world-class sports facilities, and other attractions.

    “I am honored to represent Sarasota, a place that has always supported me throughout my swimming career,” Weyant said. “This partnership with Visit Sarasota County allows me to give back to the community and share the beauty and opportunities that Sarasota offers with a wider audience.”

    For Visit Sarasota County, this NIL deal is a first. The organization said it hopes to partner with other local athletes and personalities in the future.
