    2024 Emmy nominees with Connecticut ties

    NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Some big names on the small screen will be representing Connecticut this year at the Emmys.

    More than a dozen actors with ties to the Constitution State have been nominated. They range from legendary names like Meryl Streep, to a slew of Yale graduates, to a local nonprofit trying to stop gun violence.

    The Emmys will air on Sept. 15.

    The following actors have ties to Connecticut:

    Robert Downey Jr.

    Nominated for: Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series for “The Sympathizer”

    Connecticut Link: Downey has lived in East Haddam.

    Lily Gladstone

    Nominated for: Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series for “Under the Bridge”

    Connecticut link: Gladstone took part in the Yale Repertory Theatre’s 2020 production of “Manahatta.”

    Steve Martin

    Nominated for: Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for “Only Murders in the Building”

    Connecticut Link: Martin’s play, “Meteor Shower,” played at the Long Wharf Theatre before opening on Broadway.

    Meryl Streep

    Nominated for: Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for “Only Murders in the Building”

    Connecticut Link: The actress graduated from the Yale School of Drama and raised her children in Salisbury.

    Jodi Foster

    Nominated for: Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series for “True Detective: Night Country”

    Connecticut Link: Foster majored in African-American literature at Yale, and has been honored by the university multiple times since. She received an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts in 1997, and received the Yale Undergraduate Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018.

    Christine Baranski

    Nominated for: Supporting Actress in a Drama Series

    Connecticut Link: Baranski lives in Bethlehem.

    Sheryl Lee Ralph

    Nominated for: Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for “Abbott Elementary”

    Connecticut Link: Ralph was born in Waterbury.

    Aja Naomi King

    Nominated for: Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series

    Connecticut Link: King received a MFA from Yale.

    Treat Williams

    Nominated for: Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series for “Feud: Capote vs. The Swans”

    Connecticut Link: Williams, who died last year, was born in Stamford.

    The Golden Bachelor

    Nominated for: Outstanding Casting for a Reality Program

    Connecticut Link: Peggy Dercole, from East Haven, appeared in two episodes.

    Nominated for: Outstanding Commercial for “Just Joking”

    Paul Dano

    Nominated for: Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for “Mr. & Mrs. Smith”

    Connecticut Link: Dano has lived in New Canaan and Wilton.

    Jamie Lee Curtis

    Nominated for: Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for “The Bear”

    Connecticut Link: She graduated from Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford.

    John Turturro

    Nominated for: Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for “Mr. & Mrs. Smith”

    Connecticut Link: Turturro received a MFA from Yale.

    Da’Vine Joy Randolph

    Nominated for: Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for “Only Murders in the Building”

    Connecticut Link: Randolph received a MFA from Yale.

    Parker Posey

    Nominated for: Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for “Mr. & Mrs. Smith”

    Connecticut Link: Posey played Pony Jones in a 2012 production of “The Realistic Joneses” at the Yale Repertory Theatre.

    Angela Bassett

    Nominated for: Outstanding Narrator for “African Queens”

    Connecticut Link: Bassett attended Yale.
