    Almost 65 firefighters respond to big ‘deep seated’ trash fire at Montgomery County transfer station

    MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. ( DC News Now ) — A transfer station in Montgomery County was evacuated after a big and “deep seated trash fire” broke out inside the building Wednesday afternoon, officials said.

    Pete Piringer, a spokesperson for the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service, said crews responded to the Transfer Station at 16101 Frederick Rd. after a fire was reported inside the pit area of the building.

    Piringer said due to the outside temperatures being so high, it is likely that it is “much hotter” inside the station.

    Almost 65 firefighters responded to the scene and there were no injuries reported.

    As of 4:56 p.m., Piringer said crews contained the fire and were moving the trash around.
