MEDINA, Ohio (WJW) – An armed woman has died after an officer-involved shooting at the Medina County Sheriff’s Department, investigators told the I-Team late Wednesday.

Investigators say the incident started when someone told the sheriff’s office there was an armed woman in their parking lot.

Deputies responded to the front lobby area and confronted the woman, who was carrying a knife and a firearm, according to investigators.

Officials say the woman was ordered by deputies to drop the weapons and when she refused to do so, one officer fired rounds at the suspect.

The woman, whose identity hasn’t been released, died from her injuries.

Medina County Prosecutor Forrest Thompson told the I-Team that all law enforcement personnel are OK.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation has been called in to review the shooting. Another agency will handle the administrative review.

“All standard protocols are being followed,” Thompson said.
