    Teen drowns at Benedict Pond in Berkshire County

    MONTEREY, Mass. (WWLP) – Emergency responders were unable to revive a 14-year-old who was found unresponsive in Benedict Pond Wednesday afternoon.

    According to Berkshire DA’s Office, authorities were called to Bear Town State Forest around 1:50 p.m. for reports of a youth missing at the pond’s beach area.

    Upon arrival, bystanders had already pulled the youth from the water and began CPR. Despite their efforts, the victim remained unresponsive. The youth was brought to Fairview Hospital, where further attempts to revive them were unsuccessful.

    Police and fire crews from Great Barrington and Monterey assisted in the rescue, as well as the Southern Berkshire Ambulance Squad. The incident remains under investigation and we will continue to provide updates as soon as new information becomes available.
