Gov. Gavin Newsom announced Wednesday that Kecia Lind has been appointed to serve as Napa County Superior Court judge among 11 other judicial appointments in other California counties.

Lind has served as a deputy district attorney in the Napa County District Attorney’s Office since 2015, according to a news release.

She recently prosecuted the case of Benjamin Casas — a former Pope Valley Elementary School employee who was sentenced to life in prison in March after being found guilty of sexually abusing five children.

Lind served in the same position with the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office from 2008 to 2015.

She earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Francisco School of Law, the release says.

Lind is the second judge appointed to the Napa court this year. In June, Newsom announced that Robert Stamps — who had served as commissioner with the court since 2021 — had been appointed as a judge, filling the vacancy of Judge Victoria Wood following her retirement.

Stamps was assigned to the juvenile and family divisions.

Judicial appointees earn an annual salary of $238,479, according to the news release.
