When this toddler wouldn’t stop taking her pigtails out during car rides, her mom came up with the perfect solution—the “cone of shame.”

Shaylee Gardener posted a video of her daughter, Indy, wearing the cone of shame while sitting in her car seat over the course of a few days. In each shot, the little girl laughs and smiles while she dons the contraption that’s typically used to stop dogs from licking wounds.

Over the video, Shaylee, captioned, “POV: You always take your hair out in the car, so now you have to wear the cone of shame.”

Mom Said She Spent Too Many Days “Scrambling” To Fix Her Toddler’s Hair

After two weeks on TikTok, the adorable viral post has already earned 1 million views, and people can’t get over how happy and adorable Indy looks in the cone of shame.

“Anything longer than a five-minute drive , I can count on her taking her cute hairstyle out,” Shaylee told Newsweek . “This can be challenging when you’re a mom who’s rushing to get somewhere and then you open the car door to find your baby has taken her hair out and now it’s a mess.”

The busy mom said she came up with the idea after too many days of “scrambling” to fix her toddler’s hair when they were “already late.”

“I came up with this idea one day as I was like, ‘Ugh, she took her hair out again,'” she continued. “I told my husband I had a funny video idea: I’m going to buy a cone of shame and put it on my daughter so that she would stop taking out her hair.”

Shaylee admitted that the “whole thing” was “satire.” But, she thinks her idea is golden.

“My daughter does not actually wear a cone,” she noted. “But it was so funny in my opinion.”
