Dyson has just unveiled their first audio-only, high-fidelity headphones called the Dyson OnTrac.

You may remember 2022 when the Dyson Zone headphones were announced —a pair of quality headphones paired with a piece that provided purified air to the nose and mouth. Well, now it is 2024, and Dyson has taken another swing at wearables, but this time in a much more mainstream way with the Dyson OnTrac headphones.

Between home appliances like vacuums, fans, heaters, and air purifiers, as well as beauty products like the Corrale Straightener and the Airstrait , Dyson is a brand that commands respect in its fields. Now, moving to wearables, the OnTrac headphones aim to bring the same praise to their wearables department.

For starters, the Dyson OnTrac will feature best-in-class noise cancellation, with a reduction of up to 40dB. Paired with a quality build and “carefully designed internal geometry,” Dyson’s ANC algorithm uses eight microphones to sample external sound 384,000 times a second to provide the best noise cancellation possible.

The OnTrac headphones also reproduce frequencies anywhere between 6 Hertz and 21,000 Hertz. This means you will be able to experience everything from the deepest bass to the highest highs, covering both ends of the spectrum. 40mm, 16-ohm neodymium speaker drivers and advanced audio signal processing provide crisp, clear audio.

The Dyson OnTrac headphones don’t slack on battery, either, with up to 55 hours of use. They boast up to two weeks of listening with ANC enabled, thanks to the two high-capacity lithium-ion batteries. These are suspended in the headband for better weight distribution.

Chief Engineer Jake Dyson explains a bit more about the company’s hopes for the Dyson OnTrac headphones, “Dyson’s audio engineering mission is to preserve the integrity of the artist’s sound wave, free from interference. We also wanted to create a set of headphones that people would cherish, be excited by, and be proud of.”

He also discussed the company’s expertise and its relevance to audio and wearables: “With over 30 years of experience in aeroacoustics, we’ve mastered sound physics. By reducing noise through in-house anechoic chambers and expert engineers, we’ve applied and further expanded our audio knowledge to develop the Dyson OnTrac headphones.”

For those of you who want style in your wearables, the Dyson OnTrac headphones provide 2000 customizable colour combinations. The device itself comes in four colourways: CNC Aluminium, Ceramic Cinnabar, Copper, and Nickel. For $69.99 CAD, you can also purchase additional outer caps and ear cushions in various colours for endless customization.

The Dyson OnTrac headphones will launch at $699.99 CAD, and you can grab them right from their website .
