EVANSVILLE — Qualifying families hoping to take care of back-to-school vaccines will have a chance at the end of July.

The Vanderburgh County Health Department is hosting a Back-to-School Immunization Clinic, sponsored by MDWise, from 2:30 to 6 p.m. on July 30, onsite at 420 Mulberry St. There will also be school supplies, food and vendors available.

"Children are eligible to be seen if they have Medicaid, no insurance, and some private insurance," a news release states. "Pre-registration is highly encouraged to reduce wait times."

Pre-registered participants will also be eligible for prize drawings.

Registration can be completed online at vanderburghhealth.org. Walk-ins will have to bring vaccine records and insurance information to be seen.

In a news release, the Health Department states vaccines are due for students entering kindergarten, sixth grade and 12th grade. Families should contact their child's doctor to find out if they are up to date or need to catch up on vaccines if entering other grades.

"Immunizations are the best way to protect your child from many serious diseases that can spread easily in the school setting," the release states.

For questions, contact the Vanderburgh County Health Department at 812-435-2400, option 1.
