A desperate Biden lashes out at the Supreme Court

On Tuesday, the Washington Post reported that President Joe Biden is weighing major reforms to the Supreme Court that include a proposal to introduce term limits for the justices and an “enforceable ethics code.” This plan is especially ironic given that our 81-year-old president, who is undeniably senile, is hell-bent on running for a second term himself.

According to the report, Biden is also considering “a constitutional amendment to eliminate broad immunity for presidents and other constitutional officeholders.”

Still seething over the Supreme Court’s June 2022 reversal of Roe v. Wade, Democrats were enraged by its delivery of two big wins to former President Donald Trump earlier this month. The new rulings will go a long way toward extricating Trump from the legal noose the Biden administration has tied around his neck in an effort to destroy him.

The motive behind Biden’s support for these proposals could not be any clearer. He is trying to fend off growing calls from within the Democratic Party for him to leave the race.

A look at the events of the past two months tells us everything we need to know.

Biden was riding high on May 30. Following a Soviet-style show trial in New York City, Trump had been found guilty on 34 felony charges. ABC News reported that “there were cheers inside the Biden headquarters in Wilmington as the verdict was read. These guilty verdicts are a political gift to Democrats, a political gift to the president. He is now running against a convicted felon.”

Unfortunately for Biden, Trump’s conviction would be the last bit of positive news he would hear for a long time.

In the first 24 hours of the verdict, the Trump campaign raised $52.8 million. Within days, Trump had not only closed the fundraising gap with Biden but took the lead.

While the trial was still underway, Biden challenged Trump to a June 27 debate via video , in which he mocked the former president for being trapped in a New York City courtroom while he was off campaigning. Biden joked, “I hear you're free on Wednesdays.”

Although the terms of the debate were ridiculously unfavorable for Trump, he eagerly accepted.

As we all know, the debate was a disaster for Biden, and he’s since spent much of his time resisting calls from inside his own party to step aside and trying to convince voters that he is fit to serve for another four years. In the meantime, donations to his campaign have slowed to a trickle.

Within days of the debate, Biden received more bad news. First, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of a Jan. 6 defendant who was challenging his conviction on a federal obstruction charge. The statute, he argued, had been interpreted too broadly by the lower court and the justices agreed. This ruling was a win for the approximately 300 Jan. 6 defendants, a group that includes Trump, who have been charged under the statute.

Second, the court ruled that Trump is entitled to “some” immunity from criminal prosecution for his official acts as president. This decision sent special counsel Jack Smith’s federal election interference case against Trump back to the trial court “to determine what constitutes an official act” and essentially guaranteed that the case won’t go to trial before the election.

This ruling also has implications for Trump’s hush money case in New York. His original sentencing hearing had been set for July 11. Following the ruling, however, his lawyers requested and were granted a two-month delay to give them time to determine “ whether Trump’s conviction violated his immunity from having evidence of official acts introduced at his trial.”

Next, as the number of Democrats calling for his withdrawal from the race reached a fever pitch on Saturday, Biden learned that a deranged young man had tried to assassinate Trump at a Butler, Pennsylvania, campaign rally. The image of Trump standing on the stage after surviving an assassination attempt, pumping his fist in the air and mouthing “fight, fight, fight” to his supporters as blood from a gunshot wound dripped from his ear, elevated him to legend status.

The chef’s kiss came on Monday morning. Citing Justice Clarence Thomas's concurring opinion, U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon dismissed Smith’s classified documents case against Trump ruling that he had been improperly appointed. Smith has vowed to appeal.

Given all of these setbacks, is it any wonder Biden is taking aim at the Supreme Court? He is abusing his power to curry favor among his base to prevent a mutiny.

Once again, Biden is putting his personal agenda ahead of what’s best for America.
