The late Queen Elizabeth II had a lot of respect for Meghan Markle's work as an actress and even encouraged her to keep up with her acting career. Paul Burrell, who used to work as Princess Diana's butler, has revealed that Her Majesty wanted Prince Harry and Meghan to have a life they'd enjoy. The Queen was reportedly " very kind " to the former 'Suits' actress and reassured her that it would be perfectly fine for her to "continue" with her acting gigs.

Despite the Queen's support, Meghan is said to have turned down the suggestion when they first met, choosing instead to dedicate herself fully to Royal duties. This revelation comes amidst claims from palace insiders that the monarch recognized the potential positive impact Meghan could bring to the Royal family.

Chatting with Mirror US, Burrell shared details of the warm and frank exchange between the Queen and Meghan, saying: "The Queen was very gracious and very kind to Meghan. She even said to Meghan, 'You can continue acting if you like, continue your career."

Meghan opened up about her decision to leave acting, explaining during an engagement interview: "I don't see it as giving anything up, I just see it as a change," reports the Mirror .

She elaborated: "It's a new chapter. And also keep in mind I [have] been working on my show for seven years. We're very, very fortunate to be able to have that sort of longevity on a series and for me, once we hit the 100-episode marker, I thought, 'You know what, I have ticked this box, and I feel really proud of the work I've done there, and now it's time to, as [Harry] said, "work as a team with [him]."

At Variety's Power of Women event, Meghan expressed her fondness for the Netflix series she was part of, saying: "It was great to work on, such a great cast and crew. We had a really fun time. I was on it for seven seasons, so quite a bit. But it's hard to find a show you can binge-watch that many episodes of these days, so that could have something to do with it. But good shows are everlasting."

Former Royal butler Burrell shared his thoughts on how the late Queen valued Meghan and Harry's role within the Royal Family, stating: "It's mind-boggling the amount of goodwill which Meghan and Harry have thrown away. I think that's why it came as a particular blow to the Queen when Harry left the Royal Family because she didn't want him to. She wanted him to stay, and she tried her hardest to persuade them to stay."
