Lacking storage space is a common problem in the life of an iPhone user. It seems like everything under the sun takes up a ton of storage. Before you even realize what is happening, all of the photos and videos you’ve taken over the years (and never deleted) adds up. The same goes for podcasts, movies you’ve downloaded, and audio books you’ve enjoyed. It can seem like a major effort to get your storage space where it needs to be for your phone to work efficiently, and spending time deleting apps and files may not be your favorite way to rectify the situation.

But one easy thing you can do is delete some of the preinstalled apps on your phone that you never use. There are a number of these apps , and many really do not take up a considerable amount of storage (deleting Stocks, for example, isn’t going to make a dent, we’re sorry to say). But these three pre-installed apps do take up space — adjusting them or deleting them if you never use them is a key way to increase storage.

    Music

If you have downloaded a number of tracks over the years, the Music app can consume a significant amount of storage space. It’s time to go through this app and start deleting (en masse) all of the tracks you will never listen to again. Better yet: if you use another music app like Spotify, you can delete the entire Music app and save space.

    Photos

No one would suggest deleting the Photos app — you most assuredly use it if you take photos and videos. But there are ways to change your settings so that you aren’t taking burst photos, which takes a number of pictures at one time, or shooting footage in the highest resolution possible.

    Books

If you’ve downloaded books or PDFs, the Books app is taking up a lot of storage space. Delete books you’ve already read to free up space.

It’s important to continue checking in on these apps from time to time and deleting files as you go. Regular maintenance is the best way to ensure you retain storage space on your device.
