New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen claims he doesn’t consume media reports and relies on his football communications team to fill him in, but there is one exception to that rule.

During an appearance on the Hard Knocks Podcast with Peter Schrager following episode 3 of “Hard Knocks: Offseason with the New York Giants,” Schoen admitted that he and the front office read over mock drafts and chart the data.

“We look at them because guys like you are accurate and you have contacts around the league,” Schoen told Schrager. “(We) obviously have an analytics department and they do; they will evaluate your mock drafts over the years. Who’s the most accurate? Are you the most accurate in the top 5, top 10, 15?

“We do. We go through that stuff and look, and over time you see, maybe Peter Schrager is tied in and he does well in these mock drafts. So we’re paying a little bit more attention to Peter Schrager than maybe somebody else. And that’s legit. We do look at that.”

Schrager toyed with the idea of having Schoen “name names” but passed on the question knowing he wouldn’t.

In 2024, ironically enough, Schrager was the most accurate NFL analyst and commentator when it came to his final mock draft.

Schrager correctly projected five of the first six selections, including the Giants and Schoen taking LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers at No. 6 overall.

It’s interesting, although not necessarily surprising, that the Giants chart data from mock drafts across the league. Schoen is far more progressive than his predecessor and seems willing to entertain any information he feels will help benefit the organization.
