Steve Carrell has revealed that he loved working with Irish actor Domhnall Gleeson on The Patient. In an interview promoting the latest Despicable Me movie , the American actor was asked which Irish actor he thinks would make a great villain in the franchise.

Speaking to the Strawberry Alarm Clock on FM104 , he didn't hesitate to answer with his colleague and friend Gleeson . "I just did a show with him a year or two ago and I love him," The Office actor revealed.

"I just think he is such a great actor and such a good guy. I think he would make an excellent villain." Carrell, who voices the main character, Gru, in the Despicable Me film franchise, went on to praise Gleeson's famous father, Brendan Gleeson, as well.

When asked if he would like to work with the father-son pair, he said: "Yeah father-son villain." Carrell and Gleeson blew viewers away with their performances in The Patient.

In the series, Carrell plays a therapist who is kidnapped by his serial killer patient, played by Gleeson. The series was a hit with both critics and general audiences when it was released in 2022.

Gleeson is set to star in a new spin-off of The Office, the show that is largely responsible for Carrell's fame. The details surrounding the project remain shrouded in secrecy and it remains unclear who Gleeson would play or what his role would entail.
