New York Giants embattled QB named team's biggest potential bust for 2024

This appears to be the make-or-break season for New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones.

Entering his sixth season and the second of a four-year, $160 million contract, Jones finds himself as one of the most polarizing players in the NFL.

David Kenyon of Bleacher Report is among the analysts who don't see a turnaround coming for Jones, naming him the team's biggest potential bust for the 2024 season.

Even before factoring in his recovery from a serious knee injury, Daniel Jones has a difficult outlook. He's never cracked seven yards per attempt in five seasons as a starter. Sure, the Giants upgraded the receiving corps, but Jones has consistently been a below-average QB. Now, he just happens to be a very expensive one, too.

Jones will be out to prove his efficient 2022 season wasn't an outlier. In that first season under head coach Brian Daboll, Jones completed 67.2% of his passes for 3,205 yards, 15 touchdowns, five interceptions and a 92.5 passer rating in 16 games.

He also added 120 carries for 708 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns.

Improving the offensive line was a major objective for the Giants this offseason. They added veterans Jon Runyan Jr. and Jermaine Eluemunor to the guard positions, but it remains to be seen how they will mesh with the three incumbent starters.

Adding Malik Nabers in the draft was huge. Jones hasn't had a true WR1 since entering the league in 2019, and Nabers can provide that from the jump.

Ultimately, it will be up to Jones to step up and prove he's worth $40 million per year. If he doesn't, some big decisions will be made in the upcoming offseason.
