    Trump Shooter Researched British Royal Before Rally Attack

    The gunman who tried to kill Donald Trump over the weekend researched a member of the British royal family before the attack over the weekend, according to a report. In a briefing with members of Congress Wednesday, FBI officials said Thomas Matthew Crooks’ used one of his phones to search for several prominent figures including the royal, The New York Times reported without specifying the individual’s identity. The 20-year-old would-be assassin had also looked up both Trump and President Joe Biden, as well as Attorney General Merrick Garland and FBI Director Christopher Wray before the shooting. No motive has yet been identified for the attack at Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday which left the former president injured and one rally attendee dead (two other attendees were also critically injured). Crooks was also killed during the assassination attempt. Buckingham Palace confirmed King Charles III sent a private message to Trump wishing the wounded Republican well in the wake of the attack.
