Below Deck Med Season 9, Episode 8 Preview: Nathan Gallagher Thinks Gael Cameron’s ‘In Her Own Head’

Below Deck Mediterranean stars Nathan Gallagher and Gael Cameron finally pulled the trigger on their attraction for one another. After a night out with the crew, the two snuck off to the stairwell for some strawberries, aka a little make-out sesh. It’s been a long time coming as they both have had eyes for each other since day one. Unfortunately for Nathan, Gael might have some regrets. There is the little matter of her having a boyfriend, after all. Here’s your Below Deck Med Season 9, Episode 8 preview.

Nathan wants to give Gael “a wee bit of space” on Below Deck Med

There have been several boatmances this season, including a messy love triangle between Joe Bradley, Bri Muller, and Elena Dubaich. But the one boatmance that has stayed strong was between Nathan and Gael. The two quickly had an inside “give me a strawberry” joke that seemed harmless, but probably meant something more. They also tried to sneak off for a kiss earlier in the season, however, Gael realized she could be making a bad decision and went to bed instead.

This week on Below Deck Med, it was bad decisions be damned and the two went for it. Gael could text her boyfriend later. Nathan relayed the happy news to Joe that they had made out. But in the sneak peek for next week’s episode, Nathan is no longer all smiles about the situation as Gael might be getting into her head.

Nathan and Gael were having a chat about Joe and his demotion from bow duties. Captain Sandy Yawn has moved Nathan to that role instead, which has caused Joe’s ego to be bruised. However, Gael is about to bruise Nathan’s. Gael told Nathan about his relationship with Joe, “You’ve got a little cute bond going.” Nathan retorted, “We definitely don’t.”

They both did a back-and-forth “Who? Me and You? You and me?” which was reminiscent of the classic Who’s on First skit. Gael then said, “I’d call you a mate but you’re pushing it. Yeah, acquaintance, colleague.” Nathan then drove it home. He said, “Yeah, you’re only a colleague.”

This response shocked Gael. She said, “Ouch. I’m going to pretend that didn’t hurt.” Nathan quickly folded and massaged her shoulders as they walked out. The two giggled about being colleagues until Gael put a button on it and called Nathan a “doofus.” They are too cute.

Meanwhile, Nathan let his true feelings be known in his confessional. He said, “I feel like Gael’s just in her own head again. I don’t blame her.” He added that he fancied her and enjoyed her company. And he knew the best way to make this work was to take a step back. Nathan said, “I want to give her a wee bit of space. I don’t want to come on too hard. I want to like, be respectful.” That’s a sound strategy. It’s too bad that Gael is still officially taken.
