EA Sports College Football 25 has become an instant phenomenon following the early release of the long-anticipated video game this week that took over a decade to bring back. Done the right way by having actual college football players in the game following nationwide NIL deals with the players portrayed in the game.

Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers was one of three cover athletes for College Football 25, joining Michigan running back Donovan Edwards and two-way Colorado star Travis Hunter . And with the game taking on a life and popularity of its own, On3’s Andy Staples asked Ewers if he’s been recognized solely for his role in the game.

“It hasn’t happened in a whole lot actually, but who knows,” Ewers told Staples at SEC Media Days.

A college football video game had not been released since NCAA Football 14 in 2013. But after a long hiatus the game has been brought back to life in an astounding way, not only featuring the name, image, and likeness of players, but upgraded features and details that EA Sports has been rolling out prior to the game’s release.

A rollout that Ewers has played a major role in as one of the game’s cover athletes, featured in numerous promotional materials for the game that have only added to its excitement.

“I don’t even know how to put it into words except it’s a blessing and it’s humbling,” Ewers said. “And not just for me, but for the whole university. Because all the university gets recognized for it because they see the University of Texas jersey on the cover so to have that is cool and it’s cool that it’s not just for me.”

From live mascots, to historic traditions, and actual crowd noise, chants, and team hand gestures from fans, College Football 25 seems to have all their bases covered in the game. But do they have Ewers rating and abilities approved by the man himself?

Ewers earned himself a 92 overall rating in the game, making him the No. 3 ranked quarterback and No. 27 overall ranked player in the game according to EA Sports’ Top 100 . Leading to Staples asking if they got him right in the game.

“I think they did a pretty good job. It’s hard for them to get every single feature right, but I think they did a great job with creating everybody in all one hundred thirty-whatever schools it is or twenty seven schools it is,” Ewers said. “So I’m excited how the game turned out.”

Ewers isn’t the only one that’s excited, as many college football fans and gamers alike have treated the week like a national holiday that will bring them joy for many more weeks to come.
