    Far-right extremist, 18, arrested over suspected Paris Olympics attack plot

    An 18-year-old has been arrested after an alleged plot to launch attacks at the Olympic Games in Paris .

    The teenager is suspected of having neo-Nazi beliefs while said to be running a group named the "French Aryan division" on Telegram, where he caught the attention of security forces due to his threats against the upcoming games set to begin next weekend. The individual is accused of making death threats, spreading hate speech, and sharing dangerously inflammatory content across the group to its followers.

    This follows an increase of far-right extremism being displayed in France in recent week, after an incident in May saw a Russian teenager arrested over allegations of planning an 'Islamist-inspired' attack at the games in Saint-Etienne.

    The individual in this latest case is accused of discussing bombs and how to create them in the chat group with police apprehending him this week.

    His Telegram group members reportedly discussed orchestrating attacks specifically in Paris during the Olympics , while making threats against a Parisian individual who participated in the torch procession this week.

    The individual was arrested in Bas-Rhi - around four hours to the east of Paris, situated near the city of Strasbourg. He is said to be undergoing questioning from the French anti-terror squad.

    The Paris Olympics' opening ceremony will have over 45,000 police officers in to secure the area next Friday evening, with of world leaders across the globe set to be in attendance for the occasion.

    The French defense ministry has already revealed that international military reinforcements would be arriving to ensure tight security throughout the games and are already well into their preparations securing the city.

    The French capital is one of the most visited cities on the planet and will play host to the games, anticipating over 10,000 athletes along with millions of tourists to be in and around the city for its events.

    The opening ceremony will be staged outside a stadium for the first time. Around 80 boats are ferrying international athletes on a stunning route along the river Seine towards the Eiffel Tower.

    The Paris Olympics opening ceremony is scheduled to begin on Saturday, June 26, with the games set to continue through to Sunday, August 11.
