Yes, you read that headline right — another extreme heatwave kicks off tomorrow. Let's dig into it.
Today's temperatures will be similar to yesterday with a few degrees of warming over in the inland areas. Coastal areas will see highs in the 70s, up to the mid 80s for the inland coast and inland Orange County. A beach hazard statement regarding high surf remains in effect until tonight for the beaches from Ventura County south to San Diego County.
Highs for the valleys will be in the upper 80s to low 90s, mainly in the 90s to 100 degrees for Santa Clarita Valley and up to 103 degrees for the Inland Empire.
Meanwhile in the desert, between 100 to 108 degrees for high desert, and up to 112 degrees for Coachella Valley.
Tonight's lows will drop to the mid 60s, 70s for the deserts.
About the heat
Forecasters have issued an excessive heat warning for much of the region's interior mountains, foothills, valleys away from the coast and deserts starting tomorrow morning through Wednesday. Temperatures are expected to reach between 95 to 105 degrees.
On this day in 1940, President Franklin Roosevelt was nominated for an unprecedented third term.
Things to do
Guster: Hits & Bits: Guster made a decent-sized splash in the late '90s and early 2000s, and the Boston-area band has continued to make good music and figure out unique ways to speak to their audience as they age together – partnering with comedy shows, making music for TV shows, and of course releasing new albums. The Dynasty Typewriter show promises a mix of music and comedy, with special guests Madison Cunningham, Chris Fleming, Greg Hess, Holly Laurent, Rory Scovel, and Beth Stelling.
