Jefferson County residents impacted by Hurricane Beryl and previous flooding events between April 26-June 5 can receive various assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Beginning Wednesday, July 17, members of FEMA’s Disaster Survivor Assistance team will canvass Jefferson County to assist residents impacted by Hurricane Beryl. These individuals can help residents register for FEMA assistance.

These FEMA team members will be in neighborhoods knocking on doors. Representatives will be dressed in official FEMA attire and carry official Federal Homeland Security identification.

Outside of Hurricane Beryl’s impact, vehicle repair or replacement assistance is also available for people affected by the flash flooding which took place between April 26-June 5.

Damage to affected vehicles must have been caused by the severe rain and flash flooding, and the vehicle must no longer be operable or safe to drive. Cosmetic repairs are not covered.

Assistance is usually limited to one vehicle, which must be owned or leased by the applicant, co-applicant or household member. It must also comply with state registration and insurance requirements.

To find out if you are eligible, go online to disasterassistance.gov, call the FEMA helpline at 800-621-3362 or download the FEMA app for mobile devices.
