    Company to invest $80 million in expansion of 2 Mississippi facilties – bring 500 news jobs to state

    A furniture companies plans to expand two Mississippi production facilities will bring an $80 million investment and 500 new jobs to the state.

    In a significant boost to the local economy, Ashley Furniture announced plans to expand its two production facilities in Lee County.

    This investment is set to create at least 500 new jobs, according to the company’s statement.

    The expansion project includes enhancing Ashley’s foam and mattress production in Verona through the acquisition and renovation of a neighboring facility, as well as the construction of a new facility. Additionally, Ashley will expand its operations in Saltillo, home to the country’s largest mattress plant, with a substantial investment in new equipment and operational improvements.

    Ashley Furniture aims to enhance its operational efficiencies and better serve its customers through this project.

    “We are thrilled to announce the expansion of our Verona and Saltillo operations in Mississippi,” said Ashley CEO Todd Wanek in a news release. “This strategic investment reinforces our commitment to growth and allows us to better serve our customers. By expanding our capabilities in Mississippi, we are creating more job opportunities and strengthening our presence in the region.”

    The Mississippi Development Authority is supporting the expansion through the Mississippi Flexible Tax Incentive (MFLEX) program and assistance to upgrade fire safety systems. Additionally, Lee County is contributing through a fee-in-lieu agreement.

    “Supporting existing businesses as they grow and provide new job opportunities for Mississippi workers is a vital component of our state’s economic development vision,” said Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves. “This fantastic project further highlights Mississippi’s global reputation as a destination for business and manufacturing.”

    The expansion project is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
