A group of seven men involved in the fatal shooting of a 24-year-old in south London in an apparent drugs dispute have been jailed for more than 150 years.
Kai McGinley was travelling with two friends in a Mini which was deliberately hit by a Land Rover in Erith , south-east London, on February 9 last year.
Other members of the group also involved in the “targeted” attack then jumped out of a Peugeot and fired one or two shotguns at point blank range into the victim’s Mini, the Old Bailey heard.
Kai was pronounced dead at the scene, while friends William Burton and Norman Samur suffered minor injuries.
Bradlee Reeve, 34, Enriko Spahiu, 21, and Anthony Wallder, 21, were alleged to have been in the Peugeot during the attack.
They were all convicted of Mr McGinley’s murder and were sentenced to life with a minimum term of 33 years for Reeve and 29 years for the others.
Kai Osibodu, 25, Connor Brooks, 22, Jalees Selby-Gangera, 19, and Charlie Brabon, 19, were alleged to have been in the Land Rover for the “planned execution” on Erith’s Pembroke Road.
Osibodu was convicted of murder and ordered to serve life, with a minimum term of 30 years.
The other men were convicted of manslaughter for their role in the killing and given prison sentences between nine years and 12 years.
Detectives managed to crack the case by piecing together complicated CCTV evidence to place a number of the men near the scene.
The footage revealed that following the murder the group hid in a garage belonging to Reeve, as they waited for a family member to come and get them.
Met Detective Chief Inspector Stephen Payne said: “The evidence gathered and presented during the trial left the jury in no doubt that these men were guilty of a sinister plan to kill Kai McGinley.
“We believe there was a dispute over a drugs deal and they decided the retribution for Kai should be death.
“It is extremely sad and senseless that Kai lost his life in this way. He was part of a close and loving family who miss him every day.
“Our thoughts and condolences remain with them as they try to piece their lives back together without him.”
