An inmate at Macon State Prison died Wednesday, the Georgia Department of Corrections said.

Few details were provided Thursday about the death of Jarod Williams, who was serving 20 years at the facility in Macon County for voluntary manslaughter out of Dekalb County. A GDC spokesperson confirmed the death and said his body was turned over to the Macon County Coroner’s office. It was expected to be transported to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s crime lab.

His death was being investigated by the GDC’s Office of Professional Standards. Additional details were not available as the investigation was ongoing Thursday, they said.
