Irish rappers Kneecap get incredible shoutout from Elton John

Irish rappers Kneecap were over the moon to receive a special shoutout from music royalty Elton John . The legendary singer gave the lads a shoutout on his radio show, Rocket Hour, which is available on Apple Music.

The rap group became well-known for rapping through the Irish language . They have become icons for many enjoying the revival of Gaeilge .

However, they have also proved controversial and some critics have branded their songs as anti-British. Kneecap has been enjoying huge success lately and their film won big at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year.

It became the first Irish language project to be shown at the prestigious film festival and the group is now gearing up for its release in cinemas.

Despite their successes lately, the lads were taken aback when they discovered that none other than Elton John had given them a shoutout. Piling the praise onto the group, John said of Kneecap: "Kneecap are from Belfast , who combine satire and socially conscious hip hop lyrics."

Before playing their song Better Way to Live, he added: "They’re fantastic. I’ve only just discovered them, and it’s from the new album “Fine Art.”

"The song is about finding that little spark of joy, and the little things in boring, everyday life. They’re going to be a really big band.

"I really love them. Kneecap, remember that."

Thrilled with the mention, Kneecap took to XC to share their excitement. They wrote: "What’s this…..only @EltonOfficial playing us and being sound."
