Pup Who Was Rescued With Bound Back Legs Now In Wheelchair And Looking For Love

    2024-07-20

(MA) Meet Herk, a resilient puppy who has overcome a tragic past and is now looking forward to a bright future. This 1-year-old Lab and Boxer mix pup was found by a Good Samaritan who found him with his two back legs bound together, causing irreparable damage. The damage to his legs was so severe only way forward was surgery. Herk underwent a successful amputation and has since made a full recovery. He uses a wheelchair to move around and has mastered it with ease.

Herk certainly does not let his disability stop him from enjoying life to the fullest! The only thing left is for him to find a loving family to call his own. It should be noted that Herk's adoption fee has already been paid by a donation.

    More Information On Herk

Herk is a 1-year-old Labrador Retriever and Boxer mix pup who weighs approximately 48 pounds. He has a short coat length, which is black and white in color. Herk is neutered and up to date on his vaccinations.

According to Great Dog Rescue New England, this little lovebug has never let his tragic past slow him down. He has a zest for life and loves nothing more than playing with other pups and going on outdoor adventures. He loves dogs of all ages and sizes, and this also extends to any people he meets! He can also live in a home with cats.

It should also be noted that Herk's adoption fee, usually 495$, has been waived by a donation made in memory of another GDRNE dog. Herk can be adopted for free!

"Herk's resilience and loving nature make him truly one-of-a-kind. He is ready to embark on a new chapter of life filled with love and comfort, where he can enjoy the luxuries he deserves after overcoming such adversity. If you're looking to welcome a special companion into your home, Herk is waiting to share his unconditional love and joy with you." - Great Dog Rescue New England / Petfinder

    How Can You Help Herk?

If you are interested in adopting Herk, please fill out the adoption application form, which can be found here. He is available for adoption to anyone 24 or older and living in New England, NY, NJ, or PA. There is no adoption fee for Hank as it has been donated in memory of another GDRNE dog.

Another huge thing you can do to help is consider fostering! There are never enough fosters to meet the demands of all the pups in need. More information on fostering with Great Dog Rescue New England can be found in the fostering section of their official website.

If you cannot adopt or foster, an easy way to help is to share this article or Herk's Petfinder profiles: www.petfinder.com/dog/herk-special-needs-love-bug
