Big Sean suffered a fate this week that many artists have over the last few years: his album leaked on the internet. Rather than complain, he started unloading some of his forthcoming music by previewing a collaboration with The Alchemist.

The Detroit rapper shared a snippet of a music video on Wednesday (July 18) which found him and the legendary producer standing in a field with tall grass and trees. “I had to shake the little sh*t off, you know?” he said over a blaring trumpet and vocal sample. “You sitting there waiting for the world to come to you, you got to go get this sh*t, baby/ Sun’s shining, breeze and sh*t/ Take it all in ’cause one day it can all–“

His opening speech ended abruptly before the soulful beat’s volume raised. Sean proceeded to rap: “How does it get any better than this? Woke up to a PYT tellin’ me get her/ Through all of the pressure I’m keeping my chest up/ 2Pac ‘Keep Ya Head Up,’ they aim for the neck up/ Plottin’ but f**k it, I’m set to go set up the bi**hes that’s settin’ me up for the set up/ Pushin’ the V and it’s not for vendetta/ I’m hungry as ever but somehow I’m fed up/ A smooth operator, I can connect ya/ I only love a few, I gotta protect ya.” Check out the visual below.

Big Sean’s album made its rounds on the internet with the title Feelings And Random Thots . It is unclear whether that is the confirmed title or not, so time will tell when his LP finally releases. The “Moves” rapper has spent the last week previewing music, with one song in particular “Fighting Fires” featuring production by Kanye West . Sean revealed that the song is intended to appear on Ye’s Vultures 2 collaborative album with Ty Dolla $ign.

He also found himself in a bit of controversy when he freestyled for the popular platform On The Radar . His bars “Ni**as looking for engagement like they got they knee bent/ I got better things to do than find someone to beef with” and “Difference is I’m an activist and you drink actavis and I’m back acclimated […] And Imma need my cut off top it’s decapitated” were believed to be targeted at Kendrick Lamar , with whom he had exchanged subliminal disses several years ago.

DJ Hed confirmed that the bars were not meant for Lamar via a conversation with the Detroit 2 rapper. “I talked to Sean,” Hed wrote on X. “The bar was ‘I got better things to do [than] find someone to beef with’ And it was not for Dot. Bar was directed at a different Gemini.” Check out the freestyle below.
