Kate Hudson put an end to long-standing rumors.

In an appearance on Bravo's Watch What Happens Live , Hudson addressed speculation that she forced her co-star, Matthew McConaughey, to wear deodorant while filming their 2008 rom-com, Fool’s Gold .

During Wednesday night’s episode, host Andy Cohen asked her about the "old urban legend" regarding McConaughey’s deodorant habits.

"No! No, he doesn’t wear deodorant," Hudson clarified, before admitting, "And by the way, I don’t either." Hudson even joked that she had to "look for deodorant backstage" ahead of her WWHL appearance.

Reflecting on her time working with McConaughey, she said, "My thing was that I could smell him from a mile [away] because we were so close. We’re au naturale." Cohen, recalling McConaughey's previous appearance on WWHL , said he would "expect nothing less" from either of the iconic actors, highlighting that McConaughey admitted that he didn’t know what manscaping was.

In 2021, the Oscar-winning actor revealed to Maxim that he hadn’t worn deodorant in decades. "I just never wore it. No cologne, no deodorant. The women in my life, including my mother, have all said, 'Hey, your natural smell smells, one, like a man, and, two, smells like you.'"

McConaughey’s natural scent hasn’t deterred Hudson from working with him. Fool’s Gold was their second movie together, following the beloved 2003 rom-com How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days .

Despite the years since its release, Hudson mentioned to Cohen that a sequel to How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days is always being considered. "I think they’re always thinking about that. All that matters would be the script and if Matthew and I were into the script," she said. "I think we’re both totally open but it just never has happened."
