The “Star Trek: Starfleet Academy” series has found its two newest cadets.

Karim Diané and Zoë Steiner have both signed on to the upcoming Paramount+ series. They will star alongside fellow cadets Kerrice Brooks, Bella Shepard and George Hawkins. As previously announced, Holly Hunter will star as the captain and chancellor of Starfleet Academy while Paul Giamatti will play the season’s villain.

The official logline for the show states that it “introduces viewers to a young group of cadets who come together to pursue a common dream of hope and optimism. Under the watchful and demanding eyes of their instructors, they discover what it takes to become Starfleet officers as they navigate blossoming friendships, explosive rivalries, first loves and a new enemy that threatens both the Academy and the Federation itself.”

Production will begin on the series later this summer.

Diané most recently starred in the Peacock series “One of Us Is Lying.” His other TV credits include “Solve” and “Startup.” He will next be seen in the film “1266” opposite Gabourey Sidibe. Diané is also an accomplished singer and began his career as a contestant on “The X Factor.”

He is repped by Paradigm and Legendize.

Steiner made her television debut in the British dramedy series “Significant Others.” She has also starred in multiple short films and has studied at the 16th StreetActors Studio in Melbourne and the Michael Chekhov Acting Studio in New York.

She is repped by Strand Entertainment in the U.S. and IMC in Australia.

Alex Kurtzman and Noga Landau serve as co-showrunners and executive producers on “Starfleet Academy.” Gaia Violo wrote the premiere episode and executive produces. Aaron Baiers, Olatunde Osunsanmi, Jenny Lumet, Rod Roddenberry, Trevor Roth, Frank Siracusa, and John Weber also executive produce. The series is produced by CBS Studios in association with Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment. The series is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.
