In the first season of the beloved sitcom, Mary Cooper (Zoe Perry) sweetly sings "Soft Kitty" to her son, Sheldon Cooper ( Iain Armitage ), when he's sick in bed. In season six, Sheldon sings the same song to calm his newborn niece, Constance "CeeCee" Cooper, the daughter of George "Georgie" Cooper Jr. ( Montana Jordan ) and Amanda "Mandy" McAllister ( Emily Osment ). On Thursday, Armitage brought the "Soft Kitty" tradition to life by singing it to Jordan's real newborn baby.
In a video posted on Instagram by Armitage, the 16-year-old actor holds his "new niece" and softly sings, "Soft kitty, warm kitty, little ball of fur! Happy kitty, sleepy kitty, purr, purr, purr."
He also shared a photo of himself holding baby Emma Rae while sitting next to her parents, Jordan, 21, and girlfriend Jenna Weeks.
"I finally got to meet my brand new niece! I spent time with Montana and Jenna’s sweet baby and she’s beautiful! I’m not at all biased but she’s the smartest, sweetest, most adorable human and I’m proud to be her Uncle Iain," Armitage wrote.
He continued, "Montana is getting ready to start filming his new show and I couldn’t be happier for him and his beautiful family. Note- I don’t usually sing Soft Kitty to babies but I’m learning that they genuinely seem to like it. Have you soothed your baby with this song?!"
While Young Sheldon said goodbye after seven seasons, Jordan is returning to TV as Georgie very soon. A new spinoff of The Big Bang Theory spinoff was ordered by CBS, and will focus on Georgie, Mandy and their young family.
Armitage concluded, "Congratulations, Montana and Jenna and welcome to the world, Emma Rae Jordan! You are very, very loved! ❤️."
In May, the official Young Sheldon TikTok account posted a video comparing the two "Soft Kitty" scenes from the show, with the caption, "A lot has changed, yet so much is still the same. ❤️."
"I'm thankful and blessed that they blessed us with this opportunity," Jordan said of the upcoming series, which starts shooting this summer . "It kind of helps get your mind off of it a little bit."
"It does, yes," Osment agreed. "We're fortunate in that way where we've got something sweet to look forward to."
"It’s my dream to be able to continue this story and do it with this guy?... I'm thrilled," she added.

The series -- which will be shot in front of a studio audience, like The Big Bang Theory -- is being produced by Chuck Lorre, Steven Molaro, and Steve Holland, all of whom also produced The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon .
In July, Jordan dished to ET on where exactly the show will find his beloved character after the death of his father, George Cooper Sr. ( Lance Barber ).
"You're going to find them two months after Young Sheldon ended," the Texas native shared, adding, "They're still mourning the loss of, you know, George [Sr.] dying and all that and so you're going to get to see Georgie become the man of the household."
