Anyone who lives in a standard apartment building will understand this man's level of frustration.
One of the biggest contributors to the vibe and mood of a home is the lighting. If you have bright white lights, your home is going to feel much more stark and uncomfortable. If you focus on using warm yellow light, the space will feel cozy and welcoming. Light can make such a big difference!
This creator was sick and tired of his standard dome apartment building ceiling lights. You might just know or have exactly the ones we're talking about. So he decided to design a product to finally make these lights fit his cozy aesthetic and it totally went viral. Check out his invention below!
When this TikTok creator, aptly named @lampshade.guy , moved into his current apartment, he was disappointed to see that the ceiling lights were the standard unpopular white dome lights. Many people have these flushed ceiling attachments in their homes but due to the odd shape and design, these lights are not the most well-liked.
After trying to live with these lights for a while, he decided he'd had enough and needed something different for his space. However, he couldn't find an easy way to remove or cover up the dome in a way that was renter-friendly. So what did he do? He ended up designing his very own ceiling light cover to give his apartment a whole new feel and his project quickly went viral.
What's So Great About This DIY Ceiling Light Cover?
Not only is @lampshade.guy 's design minimalist and compatible with any room design or aesthetic, it is incredible simple to use and install. Here's how it works!
The fluted design comes with two parts: the shade and the mount. The circular mount was designed with holes that will fit over the existing frame of a ceiling light. The other side has magnets which connect with the shade itself, making the installment process as easy as sticking on a fridge magnet.
His video viewers were in love with this design!
"IKEA needs to carry these too," admired @the1andonly_angelacatana. "This is way cuter than the other versions I've seen," wrote @sydney__mackenzie. "I quite literally can't wait to buy these," commented @emmahub5.
So far he's made a 10 inch and a 16 inch prototype but he is asking for more feedback from his followers for more size ideas.
