Scott Miller Hill Bypass open on US 33

ROANE COUNTY, WV (WOWK) – A major road construction project in Roane County, West Virginia, is finally opening to traffic.

The Scott Miller Hill Bypass on US 33 near Spencer opened to traffic on Thursday, July 18. The project was completed two months ahead of schedule.

The West Virginia Department of Transportation says it has been a long time coming, but the project is finally coming to fruition.

The 4.3-mile bypass runs from Truckers Run to Middle Fork. It will allow trucks and other vehicles to avoid several bad curves in that area. A ribbon cutting was set for 2:30 p.m. Thursday to mark the opening, and a dedication ceremony is being planned for a later date.
