Joe Rogan has been “pushing” UFC for fight between Jon Jones and Alex Pereira

Joe Rogan has been "pushing" the UFC to book a super fight between Jon Jones and Alex Pereira, according to company CEO Dana White.

White revealed Rogan's call for the matchup on a recent episode of The Big Show with Shaq.

“It’s a possibility," the UFC boss said when the NBA legend asked about the potential matchup. "Rogan is pushing me right now to make that fight."

Both Jones and Pereira have won titles in two divisions in the UFC.

Jones had the greatest championship run in the history of the promotion's light heavyweight division, and after vacating that title, moved up to heavyweight early last year, defeating Ciryl Gane by first-round submission to claim the division's vacant belt.

Pereira, a former two-division Glory kickboxing champ, first got his hands on a UFC title when he knocked out Israel Adesanya in 2022 to claim the middleweight belt. After losing the belt in a rematch with Adesanya, he hiked up to light heavyweight, and following a decision win over Jan Blachowicz, claimed the vacant belt with a knockout of Jiri Prochazka.

Jones has not fought since his 2023 win over Gane — long enough that the UFC was forced to crown Tom Aspinall the interim heavyweight champ to keep the division moving.

Brazil's Pereira, meanwhile, has taken the complete opposite approach to Jones, fighting four times in the span of the year. He has defended the belt twice in 2024 alone, first knocking out Jamahal Hill at UFC 300 in April, then knocking out Prochazka in a short-notice rematch at UFC 303 last month.

If the UFC ends up obliging Joe Rogan and booking a champion vs. champion fight between Jones and Pereira, White doesn't seem to see it ending well for the Brazilian light heavyweight.

"I consider Jon Jones the greatest combat fighter of all time," he said. "I’ve got Muhammad Ali's picture hung everywhere. I love Muhammad Ali. I love Mike Tyson. Jon Jones is the nastiest dude ever in history.”
