APPLETON - To celebrate Culver's 40th anniversary and the impact the chain burger restaurant has made on Wisconsin, Gov. Tony Evers has declared July 18 as Culver's Day for the state.

The first Culver's opened in Sauk City 40 years ago, serving its signature ButterBurgers and Fresh Frozen Custard. Now the chain has expanded to nearly 1,000 locations across 26 states.

In a proclamation released by Gov. Evers, Culver's was described as embodying the "American Dream" by offering individuals the opportunity to own their own restaurant and providing employment to thousands.

"Culver's take's pride in putting people first while serving delicious food with hometown hospitality that truly sets them apart," the proclamation stated. "Today, the people of Wisconsin join Culver's in celebrating four decades of business in our state and wish the company many more years of success in Wisconsin and beyond."

In addition to its new day, Culver's is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a new Concrete Mixer flavor, Berry Happy Birthday, and month-long deals and sweepstakes for its customers.
