ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Office of the State Engineer and federal partners are working together to manage water operations after a sediment plug formed in the Rio Chama due to heavy rainfall.

    Story continues below

The plug is approximately 100 feet wide, over a mile long and four to five feet deep. Crews and special equipment are being mobilized to help clear the channel. Flood control operations are being conducted by managing releases from the Abiquiu Reservoir. The state and federal agencies will work to make sure people stay save and have access to their water allocations.
