NBC Reporter Torches Biden’s Claim Party Elites Were Against Him, Says Opposite Is True: ‘Talk About the Fix Being In’

NBC News senior political reporter Natasha Korecki pushed back on President Joe Biden’s claim that it is party “elites” who are against him continuing his reelection campaign.

Korecki joined MSNBC’s Chris Jansing on Thursday and noted that her reporting on the ground with voters has shown that concerns about Biden’s age and stamina have been common among Democrats for quite some time, long before his CNN debate performance last month. This, she argued, would dispel Biden’s claim that “elites” are the ones pushing for a new candidate.

“The number one thing voters always bring up to us is Biden’s age and concern about it. And the number one thing I heard from people a year ago was, are you kidding me? It’s the same two people running again?” Korecki said.

Democrats, she added, feel that “party leaders” did not listen to them and went all in on Biden despite concerns.

Korecki reported:

If you want to talk about the fix being in, you can look at party leaders. They ignored the concerns of voters. There were lots and lots of polls showing all along that they wanted a different candidate to run, and those concerns were ignored.

The order of the primary was changed by the DNC. South Carolina was put first. It all went to benefit Biden. The field was cleared.

This notion that the elites are against him or the fix is in, I have heard so much pushback to that here on the ground, which is, no, the fix was in before. The elites circled the wagons for Biden.

The reporter said Biden and his team may believe “elites” are against him, but the opposite has been true, and that’s what voters have expressed.

“To say that it’s the elites against Biden, I think it’s the other way around and it has been for quite awhile,” Korecki said.

The segment followed a report from Korecki, along with Carol E. Lee and Monica Alba , suggesting Biden’s team is getting ready for the end of his campaign.

“We’re close to the end,” one person close to Biden told the outlet .

The White House and Biden’s campaign have pushed back on such reports, insisting Biden has no intention of dropping from the race.
