Audrey Jackson, mother to the late rapper Pop Smoke, will continue to defend her son’s life and legacy —even if others won’t.

Earlier this month, one of the slain rapper’s alleged murderers, Blockstar (born King Vermont Raskel), appeared on the No Jumper podcast and showed no remorse over taking Pop’s life.

“I’m not sorry about nothing,” Raskel told Adam22. “It should’ve never happened, but I ain’t sorry. If I could go back, I’d go back. But I ain’t sorry. People die every day. [Pop Smoke] was rapping about it. All types of stuff. So, I ain’t sorry about it. I send my condolences to the family . I wish it never happened. But I don’t regret nothing.”

Jackson has since broken her silence on the aforementioned sentiments.

When speaking with TT Torrez, Jackson said she’s not “tuned out” of what’s happening, but it’s also “not part of my world.”

Despite not having seen Raskel’s interview for herself but was told how “ disrespectful ” it was, Jackson expressed, “I gotta let that go because that’ll eat me up. I gotta’ let that go. The bottom line is your life is over. His life Is finished. He’s living, but if that’s his approach to what he’s done, life is done for him.”

Raskel was 15 at the time of Pop’s murder and spent almost four years in a juvenile detention facility. He’s since been released.

He denied claims that the fatal shooting was premeditated and stated, “Nobody intended to get hurt. We was just kids being kids — being kids from the hood. And [there was] too much movement. Movement from everybody. Too much s**t going on. Just too much s**t going on. It wasn’t intentional […] Growing up, my people, my family told me, ‘You ain’t sorry for nothing. Whatever you did, you did it for a reason and stand on it.’”

This all comes ahead of what would’ve been Pop Smoke’s 25th birthday.
