    Some people are just incredibly talented at naming things. Whether it be animals, humans, or even random inanimate objects, they always seem to have the perfect name for whatever it is.

    One of the best examples of this comes from the woman in this TikTok posted on Wednesday, July 17th. She literally never fails to name her cats, and this time, she was ready for the Spooky Season:

    @potroastsmom

    They actually came with pretty good names, but my patrons and I decided they needed to be much weirder 🫡 they were named striker, peg, croquet, roquet, and hoops! When they go up for adoption they will be available on the shelter website under those original names! In other news Au Gratin got adopted!!! Cheesy is finally big enough to get neutered on Friday!! Apply for the sweetest, dopest boy Mashed (Komatsu) on the friends of parkville animal shelter website!! 🫶❤️ #fosterkittens #kittens #kittenseason #fosteringkittens #catnames

    Pot Roast's Mom's first solo cat was named Pot Roast, if you couldn't tell, and that was what got everyone talking about her. After Pot Roast passed, she started fostering kittens, and she kept up the tradition of naming them well!

    Pot Roast's Mom is on the internet as Pot Roast's Mom, and she has been for years. No one actually knows what her real name is, and to be honest, very few people mind. She wants her privacy, and whatever name her parents gave her will be a lot less cool than the names she gives those cats!

    Pot Roast rose to internet fame a few years ago for being an old lady in a young cat's body. She had no teeth and never self-groomed, was famously grouchy, and only really cared about two things: her mom and her cat yogurts. Everything else could get lost for all she cared! Unfortunately, Pot Roast was diagnosed with FIV and died in February of 2022, which is when she started fostering kittens. They all come with names, but she also likes to choose her own. So far, come of her greatest hits are:

    1. Faucet
    2. Coupon
    3. Au Gratin
    4. Mashed
    5. Shriek
    6. Slime

    She lists all their "legal" names in the caption, so if you're interested in adopting any of these babies, you can find them! They're available through the Friends of Parkville Animal Shelter in Parkville, Missouri!

    Funky Names Help Animals Get Adopted

    This might seem silly, but it's true: anything that helps an animal stand out may help their chances of being adopted. For example, a heart-shaped speckle on their noise, a particularly peculiar coat, or even a weird name gets people talking.

    Think about it. If you see a cat named Mittens, you're going to say to yourself, "oh, a cat named Mittens." However, if you run into a cat with a sign that says, "hi! My name is Forklift Jones!" you're going to stop. What kind of a name is Forklift Jones? Do they look like a Forklift? What would their nickname be?

    Funky names or "accurate" names for cats will draw the eye. Pot Roast's mom let some of her followers pick these names out, but other shelters should really follow in her footsteps!
