A woman who was arrested last year for threatening to hurt or kill people in southeastern Colorado was sentenced to 15 months in prison on Wednesday.

Alleged bomb, shooting threats in Colorado counties lead to woman's arrest

Chelsea Minjarez was accused last year of sending five text messages threatening to shoot and bomb county courthouses, homes, businesses and people in Crowley and Otero counties between June 26-28, 2022, according to an indictment filed July 12, 2023 in U.S. District Court.

In the text messages, Minjarez allegedly threatened that "Crowley and Otero county courthouses are going to be bombed and shot up" and "We're done with [Official 1], [Official 2], etc. If they don't resign by the end of the day today innocent people are going to be hurt or killed ...," among other threats, according to court documents.

Minjarez was arrested last July on a federal arrest warrant related to the text message threats.

An April 5 plea agreement shows Minjarez agreed to plead guilty to the first of five counts in the original indictment. U.S. District Court Judge Daniel D. Domenico on Wednesday granted the government's motion to dismiss counts two through five of the indictment against Minjarez.

Domenico sentenced Minjarez to 15 months imprisonment. After her release, she will be placed on supervised release for three years, court documents show.
