    Montgomery County crews rescue fawn stuck in iron fence in Potomac

    MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. ( DC News Now ) — One fawn in Montgomery County is now safe and sound after it was trapped in a gate Thursday morning.

    In a post on X , officials said the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Department and Animal Service was called into action after a baby deer got stuck in an iron fence around 10:30 a.m. on July 18.

    Officials said crews were able to use a HydraRam tool to spread the gate and a bolt cutter to help the fawn get loose.

    The Maryland Department of Natural Resources encourages residents to refrain from disturbing fawns and resist the urge to feed them.

    Officials said it is against the law to remove deer from the wild and keep them in captivity,
