    HC and NWF alum, Jones signs with Braves

    BONIFAY, Fla. ( WMBB ) — Holmes County High School and Northwest Florida State alum, Colby Jones signed with the Atlanta Braves.

    The infielder was drafted by the Braves in the 13th round of the 2024 MLB Draft.

    He was previously committed to the University of Alabama but decided to forgo the last two years of his college baseball career.

    Jones said being drafted by the Braves and the opportunity to stay in the Southeast has been icing on the cake.

    “You’re thankful for the journey,” Jones said. “You’re thankful for all the tough times, all the good memories. All the JUCO memories, all the 1A High School memories. It hits you and then you’re like alright it’s time to go, it’s a business now.”

    Jones leaves for North Port, Florida on Saturday. He will get his assignment when he’s there.
