Charley Crockett Will Release New Album ‘$10 Cowboy: Visions of Dallas’ on Monday

Charley Crockett remains one of the most prolific and hardest-working artists in country music. Throughout most of his career, he has released two albums per year. Usually, these releases consist of an album of original songs followed by an album of covers. This time around, though, fans will get two albums of original material in less than three months when $10 Cowboy: Visions of Dallas drops on Monday, July 22.

Crockett released $10 Cowboy on April 26 and it was a hit among fans. It also debuted atop the Billboard Heatseekers chart. Monday, he’ll return with a 12-song collection that includes the previously released tracks “Killers of the Flower Moon” and “How Low Can You Go.”

Charley Crockett on $10 Cowboy: Visions of Dallas

The new album will serve as a companion piece to $10 Cowboy with all of the songs linking back to Dallas or Crockett’s home state of Texas.

Charley Crockett spoke about the new album in a statement. “We recorded all the songs during the same sessions as $10 Cowboy down at Arlyn Studios in Austin,” he shared. “Could have released a double record. But then, Taylor Grace wrote ‘Visions of Dallas’ in a hotel room overlooking that city. She thought about my relationship to Dallas and the Great State of Texas in general and suggested we do a second album where all the songs tie back to Dallas and Texas. The result is Visions of Dallas,” he explained.

Most albums drop on Friday. At the same time, artists usually give their projects more time to breathe before releasing something new. Crockett also addressed those things in the press materials. “For a truly independent artist like myself, there are no rules anymore,” he said. “Why release Visions of Dallas now? To indulge myself in artistic freedom,” he added.

“The days of the 18-to-24-month release cycles have gone the way of the dinosaur. I’ll have my 14th studio album out next week, and every single one has been released how and when I wanted them to,” Crockett said. “I see no reason to change now.”
