    Gov. Evers, DWD announce record-high job numbers in June

    MADISON, Wis. -- Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers, along with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, announced Thursday Wisconsin achieved new record highs for employment and total non-farm jobs during June 2024.

    The DWD said Wisconsin's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate held steady at 2.9%, more than a full percentage below the national unemployment rate of 4.1% in June. Wisconsin's labor force participation rate in June was 65.5%, compared to the national rate of 62.5%.

    Based on place-of-residence data, the DWD said t he number of people employed in Wisconsin increased 600 over June, reaching a record-high number of 3,048,600 people employed.

    Based on place-of-work data, the DWD said total nonfarm jobs increased 9,400 over the month of June, contributing to a record-high number of 3,048,000 jobs. Private sector jobs also increased, adding 6,700 over June to a record-high 2,639,000 private jobs.
