MADISON, Wis. -- Attorney General Josh Kaul announced Thursday the arrival of new Accelerant Detection Canine "Bo," who will work for the Wisconsin Department of Justice's Division of Criminal Investigation Canine Team.

Kaul said Bo will assist Special Agents and other fire investigators across the state of Wisconsin to detect accelerants in and around fire scenes. Bo is a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives canine assigned to the Wisconsin DOJ State Fire Marshal's Office, and joins Tutty as the second ADC in the state.

Kaul said Bo originally came from the Puppies Behind Bars program, which employs select incarcerated individuals to train service dogs for veterans, first responders, and police departments. Bo went through rigorous training at the ATF National Canine Division, and was later paired with handler DCI Special Agent Eric Beine.

After completing six weeks of intensive daily training and a comprehensive examination, Bo and Special Agent Beine became certified to work and return to the DOJ. When Bo is not working, he is a normal black lab that loves attention and playing baseball.
