BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) — Todd Kirby was sworn in as a Judge in the Tenth Judicial Circuit for Raleigh County.
Todd Kirby appointed as Circuit Judge of the tenth Judicial Circuit Court for Raleigh County On Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at 11:30 A.M., the event will be held in the ceremonial courtroom in the historic Raleigh County Courthouse in Beckley. Tenth Judicial Circuit Judge Andrew Dimlich will deliver the oath of office. All are invited to attend the ceremony.
Governor Jim Justice appointed Kirby on July 2, 2024 to finish the remainder Judge Robert Burnside’s term, who retired on May 31, 2024. December 31, 2024 is when that term ends. In May 2024, Kirby was elected to the same position. That eight-year term will begin on January 1, 2025.
Kirby is the son of of Stephen and Beverly Kirby. He was raised in Fairdale, West Virginia and graduated from Liberty High School in 2003.
After high school, Kirby attended Marshall University where he later earned degrees in history, political science, and international studies. In 2011, he attended Liberty University School of Law in Lynchburg, Virginia, where he earned a law degree.
In 2011 Kirby opened and works at his own law firm in Beckley. In 2022, he was elected to represent the 44th District in the West Virginia House of Delegates. Kirby politely declined that position to become a judge. From 2023 to 2024, he also served as an assistant prosecuting attorney in Raleigh County. In that position he focused mainly on abuse and neglect cases.
Beckley officials are sworn into office He now resides in Beckley with his, Beth, and his two children.
