Kim Kardashian has opened up about one of her children being diagnosed with the hereditary skin condition vitiligo.

The 43-year-old reality TV personality, who co-parents North, 11, Saint, 8, Psalm, 5, and Chicago, 6, with her former husband Kanye West , revealed the diagnosis during a candid chat on the She MD podcast. Opting not to name which son was affected, she shared: "My son has an auto-immune disease and they said it's hereditary and so we were trying to figure it out."

Also suffering from psoriasis herself, Kim noted that her son bears vitiligo "very mildly" and discussed the genetic thread tracing back from her mother to her, and now manifesting differently in her son. According to the NHS, Vitiligo is characterized by white patches on the skin due to melanin deficiency. Kardashian mentioned her initial lack of knowledge about the condition, but stated that it's "under control."

She expressed her journey with her son's health: "I didn't know anything about it, but having to learn about it and figuring out where it came from and that it's hereditary and just learning more and being able to share that has been a blessing." Moreover, she added that her kids also deal with minor eczema issues.

The 43-year-old reality TV sensation has never shied away from discussing her battle with psoriasis, a condition that can strike anyone and remains incurable due to it being an immune system overreaction leading to inflammation and swift skin cell growth. Diagnosed in 2011, Kim Kardashian shares this struggle with her mother, Kris Jenner, who also battles the disease.

Kim has previously expressed distress upon discovering rashes across her body and has been vocal about the impact of psoriasis, admitting it has "taken over" her body. "My career is doing ad campaigns and swimsuit photoshoots, people don't understand the pressure on me to look perfect," she confided during an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

She highlighted the intense scrutiny she faces saying: "When I gain a pound, it's in the headlines. Imagine what the tabloids would do to me if they saw all these spots." The revelation of her psoriasis came at the age of 30 while attending a birthday bash for her nephew Mason, where an uncomfortable sequin dress made her symptoms flare up.
