After freaking out at passengers, two gate agents for Spirit Airlines have been suspended. Video captured by a passenger showed one gate agent telling people to “shut up.”

Kevin Eis shared this video with Inside Edition .

“Everyone’s gonna shut up and we’re gonna say this once and we’re only gonna say it again because we’re frustrated as hell,” the gate agent at Hollywood Burbank Airport yelled as they paced back and forth and pointed at passengers.

Eis, who was getting ready to board a plane to Las Vegas, Nev., told Inside Edition the incident was the most “chaotic” thing he’s experienced at an airport. That might come as a surprise to some who have flown out of Hollywood Burbank (formerly Bob Hope Airport), which Fodor’s ranked the best airport in the nation .

“In Los Angeles, you... have a choice: between the behemoth time-suck that is Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) or the straightforward, shenanigan-free experience that is Burbank airport,” said the travel guide.

It appears as though the Spirit gate agents were overwhelmed with questions about what aircraft was on the tarmac and about flight delays. Inside Edition reported that delay issues created a bottleneck situation at the gate that overwhelmed the agents.

After the initial meltdown, another agent came in to help the first.

“Please, be quiet so I can think of what’s going on. I don’t even know what aircraft’s here because everybody’s screaming numbers,” they said. I don’t know what I have. I’m gonna be honest. I don’t know what aircraft’s sitting out there. I don’t know what’s going on. You guys won’t give me a minute. Please give me a minute.”

Spirit Airlines confirmed to Inside Edition the two agents have been suspended. Eis said he hopes they learned a lesson from the incident.

“We apologize to our Guests for this experience, which does not reflect Spirit’s high standards for Guest service,” said the airline.

Tension at airports and on flights has been high in recent years following the 492% increase in unruly passenger reports to the Federal Aviation Administration in 2021. Though reports have been on a decline since then, they’re still higher than pre-2021 years. This year, there have already been nearly 900 reported unruly passenger incidents.

Earlier this month , Audacy reported that an “aggressive” United Airlines passenger was facing charges after biting a flight attendant on a plane from Miami this week. In May , we reported that two men aboard a Spirit Airlines flight got into a fist fight in the plane’s cabin. A family on the flight captured footage of the brawl. Back in 2021 , Audacy also reported on questionable actions from flight attendants – specifically a report of a An American Airlines flight attendant who duct-taped a 13-year-old into their seat.
