SULLIVAN COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — A crash on Interstate 81 North in Sullivan County backed up traffic for miles earlier on Thursday, according to the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT).

The TDOT SmartWay Traffic Map reported a multi-vehicle crash occurred at mile marker 60 near the Colonial Heights exit.

As of 2:15 p.m., traffic was moving in the area and the crash appeared to be cleared.

The crash was reported to TDOT around 12:48 p.m.

The traffic map shows traffic in the northbound lane was backed up to the I-81/I26 interchange as of 1:10 p.m.

The right lane and right shoulder of the northbound lanes were blocked as of 1:10 p.m. A TDOT traffic camera in the area showed northbound traffic at a standstill at that time.
