Former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is not interested in taking the England job after Gareth Southgate's decision to step down .

The 57-year-old has been put forward as a possible option for the Three Lions . But Klopp, who is currently enjoying his time away from the game , has no desire to come back to work again just yet, according to Sky Germany . He has been relaxing and spending time with his family since departing Anfield .

The Football Association is willing to wait for Pep Guardiola to leave Manchester City before appointing him as Southgate's permanent successor, The Independent reports. Meanwhile, Tottenham head coach Ange Postecoglou is also among the candidates being considered, says The Telegraph.

England struggled for much of the European Championship in Germany. In truth, it only made the final because it was on the easier side of the knockout phase, as was the case in previous international tournaments too. Southgate failed to get the best from a very talented group of players but a better coach might be able to take England forward to another level.

Klopp has long been linked with a move to the German national team, where he would be in charge of a similarly talented set of players. That remains a likely option for him once his year off has been concluded.

Liverpool.com says: If the FA is willing to wait until Guardiola is finished at Manchester City (his contract comes to an end at the end of the coming season) then it should be willing to wait until Klopp is ready to return to work after his break. While he has no interest in taking on another role just yet, the German should be considered once that stance changes.

There is no rush for England to get someone in position full-time. If either Guardiola or Klopp was interested, that would be the biggest possible upgrade on Southgate, as well as the former Middlesbrough boss has done to a certain extent.
