OSBORNE, Kan. (KSNW) — Resurfacing will begin soon on U.S. Highway 281 in Osborne County.

The Kansas Department of Transportation says crews will begin Chip Seal resurfacing on U.S. 281 starting Monday. The route is about 16.5 miles, starting near the Russell County line, at County Road 412, and ending at the city limit of Osborne.

In the work zone, traffic will be reduced to one lane controlled by flaggers and a pilot car. Drivers could see a delay of up to 15 minutes.

Circle C Paving and Construction, based in Goddard, is the primary contractor for the $600,000. KDOT expects work to be completed by early August.

It’s just one of several projects on U.S. 281 that began in November 2023 . U.S. 281 is currently closed between Russell and Kansas Highway 18 , and crews are also replacing a bridge in Smith Center .
